Rob Hunt

APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist

Rob Hunt is the Director and owner of Up ’N Running Physio and a Titled Australian Physiotherapy Association Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist.

Originally from Melbourne, Rob has extensive experience working as a Sports Physiotherapist and Performance Manager in many elite sports at all levels from Club, National, to International sporting teams. This has included AFL teams Hawthorn and Collingwood Football Clubs,  the South Australian State Cricket Team (Redbacks), Australian A, Australian Under 19  and the Bangladesh National Cricket team.

Rob moved to Canberra in 2010 to work at the Australian Institute of Sport with the FFA Football (Soccer) program, the Australian Joeys and many other elite athletes and sporting teams. He also currently manages the Duntroon Physiotherapy Department as a contractor to Defence and mentors Physiotherapists through the International Cricket Council Academy in Dubai. Rob has a passion for others to reach their athletic goals with expertise in the strength, conditioning and functional rehabilitation of sporting injures. He is involved with many local sports and athletes that include AFL, gymnastics, track and field and cricket.

His qualifications include:  Masters in Sports Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree from LaTrobe University and a Bachelor of Human Movement degree from Ballarat University.

 

Daniel Sheeely

APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist

Daniel is a highly experienced Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist currently serving as the Physiotherapist and Performance Health Coordinator at the ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS), based at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Daniel works closely with elite athletes from the ACTAS rowing, cycling, hockey, swimming, and individual programs. He also holds contractor roles with Athletics Australia, Netball Australia, and Hockey Australia, providing expert care across multiple sporting programs.

Daniel began his career in Adelaide before moving to Canberra in 2019 for a Post-Graduate Physiotherapy Scholarship position with the AIS and ACTAS. Since then, he has gained extensive experience in high-performance sport, including his work at the Australian Institute of Sport’s European Training Centre in Italy. He has supported athletes at major international events, serving as a Physiotherapist for Commonwealth Games Australia at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2023 Youth Commonwealth Games in Trinidad, as well as the Australian Olympic Team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Daniel is a titled APA (Australian Physiotherapy Association) Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist, which represents a physiotherapist who is highly qualified in a particular area of practice and has undergone a rigorous process to demonstrate highly developed physiotherapy experience and knowledge. His areas of interest include hamstring, shoulder, calf, and tendon rehabilitation. He is also committed to optimising athlete performance through the implementation of evidence-based injury prevention strategies.

In addition to his clinical work, Daniel has contributed to injury prevention research, leading and co-authoring publications investigating injury epidemiology and athlete retention within the Australian High-Performance Sports System.

Daniel’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (University of South Australia, 2012), a Masters of Advanced Clinical Physiotherapy (Sports) (University of South Australia, 2017), and a Graduate Certificate of Applied Clinical Epidemiology (Sports) (University of Canberra, 2022).

Byron Field

APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist

Byron Field joined Up ‘n Running Physio in July 2022 and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team.  He graduated from the University of Canberra in 2004 with a degree in Psychology and Sport & Exercise Science, and has since completed a Masters of Physiotherapy, Masters in Sport & Exercise Physiotherapy and a Masters in Strength & Conditioning. He is currently completing his PhD  looking at recognition of concussion in rugby union – specifically the use of instrumented mouthguards to assist with identification of head impact.

In addition to his work at Up ‘n Running Physio, Byron is currently the High-Performance Manager for the ACT Brumbies. Prior to joining Up ‘n Running Physio, Byron worked with professional rugby union teams in the UK and Australia.

Byron has an interest in empowering his patients and athletes to fulfill their potential and provides programs tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
